Ceri is a London born DJ, Selector, Producer and Record Label owner. She earned her ‘DJ Stripes’ with multiple residencies across the Capital, most notable for Jaded at Corsica Studios, where she played eight, nine and even ten hour sets regularly in their second ‘house room’. She has also played the iconic fabric ‘hattrick’ playing all three rooms, as well as gigs at Berlin’s Panorama Bar and Heideglühen, as well as being a firm favourite in Ibiza, regularly playing clubs like Amnesia, Pikes and 528. Her recent USA tour saw her play in New York, Chicago, and Detroit, and her most recent release on her label Find Your Own Records also features remixes from Chicago and Detroit, honouring her affinity with those cities that started it all.
Her Phonica Friends & Family mix is a carefully curated journey through multiple influences, with a timeless feel, a mix of music past, present and future, that will still sound as good in 10 years as it does today. A journey through deep house, classic cuts, and forthcoming gems. The mix also includes her next release out this week! So grab your copy now from the Phonica store.
Hey Ceri, thanks so much for joining us! Can you tell us about your mix and what the idea behind it was?
Well of course I had to do a vinyl only mix for you guys. I haven’t done an all vinyl mix in a while, so it was really nice to do one.
I started by popping into my fave record store in London, Phonica of course 😉 for a dig, and then flew to Ibiza and accidently left the bag of records on the plane, so I almost lost them! Luckily, I realised before I left the airport and went straight to lost property who retrieved them. So thankfully I didn’t cry and was able to include four tracks from my recent Phonica haul in the mix… as well as having a dig through my collection, and also popping into a new secret record store in Ibiza as well, which does appointment only sessions.
As always, I love to include a mix of newer and older stuff, and music that has a classic and timeless feel to it. I like my mixes to be a journey, flowing through my many influences, and telling a story. So I started with some nice groovy rollers, including a wicked track from Mathias El Mansouri, a recent Phonia Records release (be rude not to!), followed by some timeless old school deep house from 51 Days, Inland Knights, and Hardrive, before switching it up with an absolute classic from Funky Green Dogs, as well as dropping a few from the next release on my label, the new Jen Cardini, some Mr. G, and ending on a forthcoming breaksy from MXXWLL.
I think it’s also worth mentioning that Phonica has always held such a special place in my heart… Many years ago, I was working part time alongside being a ‘struggling’ artist in London, and decided to quit my job, with only £100 in my account, which I went and spent all on records at Phonica, which sounds like an un-sensible thing to do, but felt so right at the time, and this ended up being what pushed me into going full time with my music! All the staff are always so helpful too and really get to know your taste and help you find the perfect records for you. Nick was always such a special soul too and I was so sorry to hear of his tragic passing recently, such a beautiful soul gone too soon, who also had the best music taste, he always made me go over my record buying budget when he was there, and I am sending so much love to you all and all his friends and family.
What are your preferred methods for finding new music—do you still enjoy digging around in dusty crates, or do you prefer to buy online?
I don’t think it’s an ‘either / or’ situation, I love both! Obviously I love vinyl and always will, and nothing beats a real life dig in a record shop. Some music is amazing and only available on Vinyl, and other music is also amazing and only available digitally, so I defo keep one foot in both. I spend a lot of time in Ibiza and the post isn’t great there so it can be harder to get physical records posted there, although as I mentioned I just found a new secret record shop which is great. And then I also love visiting record shops when I am on my travels too. As well as buying vinyl and digital records online.
I honestly don’t listen to many promo’s anymore though, I feel like recently because the barrier to entry for making music has been lowered, which of course is good in the context of making it accessible to everyone, is not so good in terms of the sheer amount of music being released, plus, a lot of it is not good quality. So I do think in a way it is harder to find good music because you have to wade through so much s*** to get to the good s***! Although, I do find music on vinyl often does have a higher quality because of the time and cost involved to get it out into the world.
Recently, there was a vinyl record I found online, which was going for over £400 on discogs, I spent months and months trying to find it cheaper, and eventually found it on a random USA story for $8! So I got someone to buy it and bring it over for me. It probably took me nearly a year from first discovering it, to holding it in my hand, and I was so happy when I eventually got to play it out for the first time. It felt really special.
What are five records you couldn’t live without?
I can’t tell you because they’re all my secret weapons! 😉
What has been one of your most memorable sets over your career?
Probably when I played Panorama Bar for the first time, it was such a beautiful moment, it was one of those sets where I felt ‘as one’ with the crowd, and I cried and the crowd cried with joy! There aren’t many times that happens, but when it does it feels so magical, like a spiritual experience.
What do you have up your sleeve for 2026?
Well I am writing this fresh (albeit slightly sleep deprived) from playing the Amnesia opening which was amazing. I love Amnesia so much, so it was an honour to play the iconic opening. I will announce more dates for Pyramid, 528 and Pikes in Ibiza very soon too. I love how despite many people saying ‘Ibiza isn’t what it used to be’, for me, these clubs do still manage to capture that true raw authentic vibes and everyone is there to truly have fun and get down.
The latest release on my label ‘Find Your Own Records’ is also out this week, so I’m very excited about that! For this release, I have two Vinyl Only Remixes from two of my favorite OG producers: Chicago’s Mark Grusane, and Detroit’s Gari Romalis Electronix, welcoming them to the label, to honour the roots of, and my affinity with, the cities that inspired it all. They both put completely different spins on the originals; Mark comes in with a US and UK garage inspired house rocker that builds tension and is sure to rock any dancefloor. Gari Romalis comes in with a refined house blend with that old school Detroit magic feel.
I am also back in the USA soon to play for Refuge, I played there for the first time last year, and they have put so much love into the build of the venue and the soundsystem so very excited about that. As well as back at Heideglühen in June, which is always a beautiful spiritual experience with true music lovers, and a no phone policy which I love.
Next week I am also hosting a meetup for Electronic Music Producers in London, to give feedback on their tracks and a chance to connect with others on the same journey which is something I wish I had when I started my production journey.
Obvs I will pop into Phonica too for a dig and to see my records on the shelves.
