Jump Source are the Montréal-based duo of Patrick Holland and Francis Latreille (better known as Priori), whose shared musical language draws on the more adventurous corners of house, techno and electronic music. Formed in 2016, the project has developed through a run of releases on their own Jump Source imprint, with records also appearing through the wider Montréal underground network. Alongside their individual work, the pair have established themselves as a formidable production partnership, contributing to projects by artists including Maara, James K., Tiga and Car Culture. Their first full-length album, Fold, arrived on NAFF Recordings in April 2026, bringing together an eclectic cast of collaborators including billy woods, CFCF, Helena Deland and POiSON GiRLFRiEND.
Their catalogue began with the Guide To Action release on ASL Singles Club in 2016, followed by a series of self-released 12-inches that have gradually expanded their sound. Early records such as JS01 and JS02 established a fondness for understated, dub-inflected house and minimal grooves, while subsequent instalments brought increasingly adventurous rhythmic and melodic ideas. Their sixth EP, JS06 (2025), featured collaborations with Sabola, Martyn Bootyspoon and Frankie Teardrop, and earned recognition in year-end selections from Resident Advisor, The Quietus and First Floor. On the live front, notable appearances include an all-night-long session at Montréal’s Société des arts technologiques, their first live show at Horst Festival, and performances at MUTEK, alongside appearances at Barcelona’s SOUNDIT and London’s RALLY.
For this Phonica mix, the duo dig into a particularly good corner of their record collections, drawing on a selection that feels rooted in the deeper, more understated side of club music. There’s a distinctly early-2000s minimal and tech-house sensibility running throughout, with loose, rolling percussion, rubbery basslines and hypnotic synth work providing the foundations. Tracks such as Sasse’s Gravity (Peter Dildo Dirtymind Replay) bring a heavier, driving deep-house groove, while Baby Ford’s remix of DJ W!LD and Zarate_Fix & DJ Sotofett’s Dub State introduce a more stripped-back, dubwise quality. As the mix develops, the selections move between playful, off-kilter minimalism and deeper, more atmospheric techno, with 2501’s Dark Grey (Version) and The Electric Press’s Tone Control rounding things out on a suitably heads-down note. It’s a carefully assembled selection that favours groove, texture and subtle progression over obvious dancefloor pay-offs. Here’s literally a few words from the duo:
Hey Jump Source, thanks so much for joining us! Can you tell us about your mix and what the idea behind it was?
Deep tunes we’ve been loving.
What are your preferred methods for finding new music, do you still enjoy digging around in dusty crates, or do you prefer to buy online?
Recommendations from friends, crates, the web — all equal.
Jump Source seems to be the harmonious joining of two very defined sounds – how did this project come to be?
From hanging at parties in Montreal, to making tunes in Francis’ closet studio in 2015.
What are five records you couldn’t live without?
Matthew Jonson – Typerope
Derek Carr – Destiny
Coastal Commision – Rhodes Through Space
Marina Van-Rooy – Let You Go
Aaron Carl – Down
What do you have up your sleeve for the rest of 2026?
Renovating and expanding our studio.
Cool. Thanks for the mix.
