Phonica Mix Series 114:
Harrison BDP

phonica mix BANNER 114

The Phonica artist and innovative house producer Harrison BDP steps up for the next edition of our mix series with a tipping of the hat to the many sounds of the clubbing 90’s.
Having released on an array of big labels like Haŵs, Shall Not Fade and Lost Palms over the years Harrison has cemented himself as one of the solid names in UK house in modern years. We had a chat with Harrison about the mix and what he has coming up below:

Hey Harrison, thanks for joining us! Can you tell us about your mix and what the idea behind it was?

Hi mate, it’s just a bunch of records I’ve picked up recently that I’ve really been enjoying playing out. Very 90’s sorta vibes on this one.

Can you tell us a bit about how you usually approach recording a mix or a set?

To be honest I don’t really give it much thought or preparation. As I mentioned before I usually just play the records I like at the time and In no particular order ha.

What are your preferred methods for finding new music—do you still enjoy digging around in dusty crates, or do you prefer to buy online?

I’m very much an online kinda guy, usually go on a discogs/bandcamp rampage after a few beverages to find all of my stuff.

What advice would you give to any DJ’s or Producers just starting out?

Listen/learn the sound and spend more time in the studio!

What is your dream setting for a DJ set?

Definitely on a beach with a nice sunset/sunrise

What do you have up your sleeve for 2024?

Steady output as always, you’ll just have to wait and find out 😉
