As with every year, we present our annual round-up of our favourite records of 2019, including albums, singles, compilations, reissue singles and reissue albums. We also have individual staff picks and artist picks for you to browse.
Aside from the incredible releases that have landed in store which you can check on the lists below, its also been a great year for Phonica’s own labels, with artists such as Will Saul, Yak and Earth Trax & Newborn Jr serving up the goods. Keep an eye out for our 2020 series, we have some real gems lined up.
We also look forward to having many more in-stores in 2020 thanks to the installation of an excellent sound system from TPI Sound. This year we’ve seen in-store DJ sets from Louie Vega, A Man called Adam alongside our annual Record Store Day where everyone from Skream and DJ Fett Burger to Shanti Celeste, Danielle and Detroit In Effect graced the decks, culminating in a surprise set from the Detroit originator himself Juan Atkins. What a day that was! The summer months saw our resident DJs take over whole stages at Kala Festival, Dimensions and London’s own Junction Festival and our monthly London club residencies saw them working the crowds at Number 90, Dalston Roof Park and House Of St. Barnabas. These will continue to roll through 2020, so we will look forward to seeing you there!
