Hailing from the West Coast of the USA, the now Berlin-based DJ, producer and label owner Akua Grant aka Lady Blacktronika has become widely respected for her exceptional style of raw, deep and groovy house and beatdown music. With more than a decade in the game, her original productions and remix works have been picked up by such labels as Skylax, Bass Culture and her own Sound Black Recordings over the years.
Grant’s next outing ‘Wax Cylinder Only’ comes in the form of a 2xLP from London based label Meda Fury. The first 12″ from the compilation features a collection of unreleased dancefloor material, showcasing the tougher side of her ‘deep and hard’ sound. The second 12″ features a handpicked selection of Blacktronika’s previously digital-only releases, which now get a much-deserved vinyl release.
