Phonica’s 20 Year birthday celebrations have kicked off to a monumental start. We have a whole summer and autumn of events to commemorate our 20th birthday. We will be giving you an update of our events as the year goes on. We launched with these 3 huge events: Kala Festival, Glastonbury and Secretsundaze’s Multi Multi event. There’s lots more to come – please check the future dates at the bottom of the feature.
Kala Festival, Albania
Our first 20 year event took us over to Kala Festival for the start of June at the beautiful sunny Dhërmi beach on the Albanian riviera. Phonica’s own Alex Egan and Luther Vine hosted our take-over at the festival’s Splendor stage, overlooking the Adriatic. Our stage played host to killer sets from Marcellus Pittman, Paula Tape, I Jordan, Sally C, Grace Sands and Benedict Bull.
Glastonbury Festival, Somerset
Next up we made our way down to Worthy Farm in Somerset to host 20 Years Of Phonica at the legendary Glastonbury festival. The Silver-Hayes dance village welcomed us with open arms to host the Saturday day party at the Wow Stage. Under the blistering sun, we got our sweat on to sets from Peach & Call Super B2B, an acid filled live set from DMX Krew, some superb selections from Niks with our own DC FSLMan & Nick Williams opening things up. A truly memorable weekend that, of course, included a few shandys, a fair few ciders, and a tipping of the hat to Sir Elton John.
Secretsundaze presents Multi Multi, East London
Next up, at the start of July, we hosted a 20 Years Of Phonica afterparty at Secretsundaze’s all-day/all-night Multi Multi event over in Hackney Wick. We held it down at Studio 94 where extra large sounds filled the room from Luther Vine, Anu, Michael J Blood live, a live analog set from Kai Campos of Mount Kimbie, with our own Avsluta and Orphic taking us well into the morning.
There’s loads more dates to come this year, we can’t wait to see you next Friday, July 21st at Junction 2 where we will be taking over their Quad stage with sets from Dixon, Daphni b2b Hunee, Dan Shake, Cashu alongside our own Ysanne & Skip Wooznam.
